ok so i have what i think is the original bucket seat in my blazer and am looking to swap them out for a bench seat. now i have searched on here and saw people with the normal 70's trucks have swapped in second row seats from newer suburbans. now will this work on the blazers also? i think i have found a set from a 90s suburban for cheap. its not the best condition, one wear spot on the drivers side but it does have the center piece that folds down with cup holders. which would be nice lol any info would be great. by the way here is a pic of the set. thanks again

Looks like the inner leg on the drivers seat is going to land right on the tranny tunnel area, have you done any measuring yet?

Welcome to the board.

Swapping out for different seats, no matter what they might be out of is always going to mandate 'custom' mounting set ups.

Keep us posted on what you come up with.

i haven't done any measuring yet cause i haven't been able to find a local set. i figured i would have to do some cutting and welding to get them to work. but i know in the end the comfort would out way almost anything lol and thanks for the welcome

Oh sorry, I thought the pic was showing what you had already.

I put a set of 04 Tahoe buckets in a burb I had for awhile and I can tell ya now, your gonna really like em.

that does look nice. the only thing i am having a problem with is finding the right ones. i wanna try and find cloth ones cause leather is to cold in the mornings and it's almost snow time lol

Mine is a 60/40 split bench out of a 98 Silverado extra cab. The advantage of the extra cab seat is that it tilts and slides forward like the original Blazer seats, but it's a lot more comfortable.

I used a metal plate to adapt the seat's mounts to the stock bolt holes in the floor. I had to drill in the middle because there weren't any stock holes there.

Those seats are a better choice IMO, with the later model seats having the built in shoulder strap, it adds complication's the earlier ones don't.

Add the flip & slide function with the fact that they're really comfy and it makes for an easy choice.

I tried a bench in my blazer years ago. Make sure it flips ahead on the passenger side or getting to the backseat is a PITA!

Here you go. This will give you an idea of what I did. I bent the tab on the front mount toward the back (the Silverado has it toward the front) to save some room.

after much discussion with my brother this weekend i think i will be going the way of the 99+ silverado front seat for an ext cab. for the main reason it has the intergrated seat belts. which would be alot easier

Not really...

To do it right and make things safe for you & your passenger, you need to fab up more support under the front seat mounts.

Discussion at length went on a couple years ago about this, there were testimonies about how the seats with built in shoulder harneses had such high canilever forces that when in an accident they were ripping right through the front portion of the floor & smashing the occupants head/body into the dash.

Not making this up either...

When I ran the seats in my burb, I only used the stock lap belts, thus avoiding the potential dangers.

wow ok now you are making me rethink that one agian lol. i'm so glad for forums for useful info like that. i may just go with the 98 and prior 40/20/40 bench and try and retain the orginal belts since no one will actually be sitting in the center

oh no i understand completely. and i thank you for that. it sounds like it would be alot less of a hassel going with 98 prior now that i know that part
