eaton hub info

just recently i had to change the outer wheel bearing on m ho52 axle. i got the bearing, preceded to install it and decided to change over to a later year hub off an Eaton in order to widen it(if it works).

i havent got them yet and need answers to a few questions before i do.

1. will a set o hubs off a latter model Chevy will fit mine. i believe mine is off a mid 60's pick up? i also think its got a 63" wms. (need it to be at least 65").

2. does it matter if i get it off a dully or srw truck.(dullies seem to be more available where i live)

will the later model hubs bolt up?

any help is greatly appreciaed. thanks

Re: eaton hub info

i'm pretty sure the later model hubs from a 14 bolt won't work for you, you'll have to use eaton hubs.

also, if you have a 63" wms axle, then you already have a dually (or cab and chassis). my srw eaton is 65"

Re: eaton hub info

i read that 14 bolt hubs wont work.

i dont think i have a dually, axle. i noticed on most of the eatons ive found they have a cast spacer as a part of the hub. my original hubs do not have that. will getting a set that do have these make a diffrence

Re: eaton hub info

so turns out that the hubs that were on the eaton (50's model) is not interchangeable with a later model without changing everything from the backing plate and out....sooo........ended up buying a whole new axle. stuck with the eaton (they rock!) the local pick n pull was having a 50% off sale so we went and snagged up a H052 from an 72 gmc...4:56 gears and.... 9/16 studs! so now the truck sits with a stock tracking width of 65"

Re: eaton hub info

and for future reference heres a pick of what the set up looked like on my original axle compared to my new (to me) axle

with the 50's eaton

tires barley stuck out at all

hubs on the original axle

brake drum slides over the hub

with the later model eaton

tires have been pushed out bout 1.5"

new hub style
