How about engine/trans info. Is it equipped with an air pump?

Re: what a day check it out Please
i would look at the wires on the starter, and see if they are almost touching or are melted. then I would get the starter checked. I had a 79 suburban that the starter stayed engaged and it had burned up the battery and was makeing the same noises that your describing.
which valve cover is the steam coming from?

Re: what a day check it out Please
Great answer. Prolly shorted wires to starter OR stuck solenoid.

Re: what a day check it out Please
The starter wiring sounds like a good place to start. It may have gotten melted and is keeping the solenoid engaged longer than it should.
It may be melted plastic smoke you are seeing and not steam. |
