leafs????????????

hey so i have a 71 and it has coils. a want to switch it to leafs, have any of you done this?

That's different . Most of the guys on here want coils..... I have leafs.... and just want the ECE lowering ones.....

I'm kinda wondering why you want leafs

coils offer:

1. smother ride than leafs

2. hook better than leafs

3. unlike leafs, no wheel hop

4. surprisingly, the kind of coil spring suspension our trucks have (truck arms) is used in NASCAR

Because real trucks, ie 3/4 tons have leaves thats why! Maybe he wants to haul something!

well one a want more load ability, i am going to do a lift and it makes sense also i like a stiffer ride

wish you were closer, i recently gutted all the leaf hardware from my 71 gmc in prep for trailing arms (rearend, brackets, crossmembers, and all that i'd love to get rid of).

coils and leafs both had the same load capacities. Being he is in Mn, I would guess his arms are rusted out and falling apart, I've seen them snap due to rust, but I don't think I've ever seen leaf springs rust out.
