9.75 x 16.5 Vintage Steel

On the way into this job I`m on they are installing Fios and two of the spool haulers had these:

I remember seeing a Ditch Witch with 8-lug solid disc wheels and Ground Hawgs in Cape Hatteras in the mid-70s just when they came out.I always wanted to try a set of those wheels.Take a look at equipment and trailer wheels and you can find some nice HD steel wheels.

Does anyone remember the chrome slots that cars ran back in the early-70s?I`m surprised they haven`t been revived. They looked like aluminum slots but were chromed steel and the slots were smaller.Well, there used to be painted steel 9.75 x 16.5s in that design that would I always wanted to try, too. They would look killer powder coated,or painted for that matter. The only ones I ever saw were a grey like you see alot of unpainted commercial wheels.I know what tire store they came from.IMO these wheels would look so much tougher than the Bart-style (10 hole) and d-hole wheels. If I had a way I`d bring them back.I`m sure you all would agree how good they`d look on a 4wd.

IMO,a company would do well to make all these wheels in 16".Well,that`s my little blip about steel wheels because I saw these and had a camera handy.

I had 2 of those 2 wheels just in an 8" not the 10". I like the looks of them, have more class than wagon wheels or the Barts.

I had 1 of those wheels too. Never could find a match for it. It went with the Longhorn a long time ago.

Re: 9.75 x 16.5 Vintage Steel

bobcats run a 16.5 x 8" industrial rim. think they are 8 lug as well.

here's some food for thought.....

Re: 9.75 x 16.5 Vintage Steel

A lot of the mid size skid loaders do run the 16.5 wheels with 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern. It would be nice to get a full set of wheels like you're talking about for sure.
