12 bolt rear end
i know "SEARCH BUTTON" but keep getting conflicting answers.
Will a 12 bolt rear end out of a 72 c10 fit correctly into my 66gmc with leaf springs? i know its slightly wider but how is that so bad and would I be able to run my rallys off my 85 c10 with a smaller tire for now? |

Re: 12 bolt rear end
Is that '72 12 bolt setup for leafs or coils? If it is for leafs, that will bolt right up. However you may need to shorten your driveshaft if your original rear end was a Dana 44. You may also have to address differences in the e-brake cables.....not positive on that. Width wise it's only 1.5" overall, so just .750" each side. You should be alright with a small to medium size tire. It also depends on whether your Rally's are 7" wide or 8".

Re: 12 bolt rear end
Im planning on swapping the 79 12 bolt into the 63 so that i have 5 lug axles and the other one has been sitting for over 15 years and i dont know it was any good when they parked it.
With the the 10" wide rallys on the 79 rearend it only measured 2" wider than the 63 rearend with skinnies on it. probably is fine then eh? Jory |
