65 lwb project

well i finally got time to start tearing it apart hope to start on the body work soon i have owned this truck for 10 years now bought it on my 16th birthday and did the 5 lug disk swap 8 years ago on the front and then never touched it again. its getting a 454 which is in the machine shop now. plans are to go back orange and white lower it with some 18" wide mickeys on the rear with wheel vintiques ralleys. well enough of the chit chat heres the pics of what im starting with.

alright i took the bed apart and started taking the doors off and ran into a problem is there a secret to getting the pin out of the door catch i got the passenger door off but im sure i did it the hard way i went through the inside of the door and pulled the cotter pin that holds it all together. hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue thanks in advance

The pins in the door limiters can be a pain. They need to be driven out from below. Spraying them with some Kroil or PB will help some.

Sounds like you have some cool plans for your truck. Keep us posted on your progress.

little update cab is now apart windows out and luckily i found no rust around the windshield but i do need front floor pans any suggestions of who makes the best ones?

I would suggest checking with a couple of the vendors here on the board. Both mbgmike and Tri-ProAutomotive sell some of the better patch panels and they have good customer service.

Welcome to the forums from Kansas City, KS and thanks for sharing your project and plans for it.

In the future, you tap the door check pin at the "A" pillar out from the bottom with a nail set and a hammer. It is tight, but with the front fender removed, it is the best way I have found. My hands are almost to big, I mean fat, to do it this way, but it works great.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted with lots of pix.

PS - My first vehicle was a 1965 Chevy C10. I bought it for $500.00, in 1981. I am now 44.
