what do you guys think??

this is a truck i just bought. its a 1985 reg cab shortbed 6 inch lift and 35's. the problem is it had a small fire under the hood that cooked a few wires that i gotta figure out exactly what each wire goes too but it shouldnt be too tough of a project.

i payed $1500 for it i figure the lift and tires alone should be worth about that.

can anyone tel me what lift this is? but my favorite part of the truck is no blocks in the back lol

and heres the carnage. doesnt look 2 bad. just alot of melted plastic.

so what do you guys think? good or bad deal for $1500?

Re: what do you guys think??

Levittown LI? hey neighbor! well its a typical NE truck with cancer in the rockers and corners. In some parts of the country its worth more than what you paid for it i think you wrnt a bit on the high side but then again my estimates are always low. Im cheap lol and IMHO that would be $700 cause you dont know how it runs or shifts. How are the body mounts?
the good news is that you can get a complete tune up kit cheap enough and thanks to the CFC program you will prolly find a bunch of these in the scrap yards to get the wiring harness or you could find a painless wiring harness.
You could also find a pick and pull and get all you need. I would however spray that firewall down with something to prevent more rust from forming
Good luck with it

Re: what do you guys think??

oh i forgot to mention that lol. i know the owners and know that the truck just had a jasper reman th400 put in it a little under a year ago. thats why their askin 1500 cuz they dropped almost 3k into it for that. and im in levittown, pa down like right by trenton haha. as for rust all the body mounts and all are solid and im not worried about the cab corners and stuff cuz its gonna be a wheeler mostly so the bodys just probably gonna take a beating. thanks for the quick reply.

Re: what do you guys think??

I think you got a decent deal. From the pic of your front spring, I can see "ntry" so I'm guessing you have a Rough Country lift. It looks like you are going to need a little more then wiring under the hood. From what I can see: Distributor, plug wires, Carb, Wiring harness, Master cylinder and maybe a booster, throttle linkage, t.v. cable. If you still have a 700r4, you will probably need a new lock up solenoid too.

Re: what do you guys think??

lol yea i just mean wireing as in thats what actual work i need to do. the rest of the parts are prettymuch just replacing parts moreso than fixing them.also my while family and most of my family freinds are all chevy guys. so the parts will probably be freebies. (they are just so happy i dont own a dodge anymore haha)

oh and great eye on the writing on the spring, ive been crawling all over this truck for about a week and didnt even notice that.

Re: what do you guys think??

You got a good deal, but you also have some work ahead. I suggest you find a parts truck and rob the entire front harness. I wouldn't attempt to patch that one.

Re: what do you guys think??

looks like you got the sharp end of that stick.

dont even bother tring sort all the wires out, just get the harnesses from the junk yards.

it has ord swaybar disco so i can only assume that it has a shackle flip in the rear, but you didnt post a pic of the hangers and the springs do seem to have a large arch.

Re: what do you guys think??

12 bolts stopped being available from the factory in 82
the disconnects might be used for trail ridding, fore ease of unhooking the sway bar for more articulation
