fuel gauge wire on 87 tbi
ok i relized that i dont have a wire for my fuel gauge!!!!!! i have the fuel pump plug to the relay but where does the fuel gauge wire go on a 87 r10 sending unit???

A little more detail into what your doing may help......
Are you replacing the sending unit and find no provision for the fuel gauge ? If so, I just ran into the same problem installing a 86 tank in my 97. I bought a 86 sending unit but it wasn't right (not like the old one out of the 86), I found there are a couple different style sending units and couldn't find the proper one in a aftermarket. The local dealer has the right one but I'm not shelling out close to $400 for a bare (no pump included) sending unit.

You should have three wires coming off the sending unit, A gray and purple in a connector plug and a black with a eyelet that goes to a grounding point (frame).
The gray wire powers the fuel pump and the purple activates the fuel gauge.

I have OEM electrical manuals for an 87 , what do you need? Fuel sender wiring only? or the whole run of the wiring front to back...

Sorry its been a few days since I told you I would post this...
Here is the wiring at the tanks and fuel senders , This should give you a start. It shows color codes and locations in the connectors  Fuel tank selector on dash if you have dual tanks  Not sure if this is what you need, If you need the dash cluster wiring let me know Desert |
