I need some guidance...
So, I’ve done some soul searching over the last week or so, and I decided to keep going on the Sled. I’ve got too much invested to stop now.
I was revising my old game pland to better reflect some new goals and I hit a small roadblock. I’m having some difficulty making a decision regarding the wheels. I’m definitely sticking with 16’s. 22’s/24’s are out of the picture as this rig is my daily, and replacing 22” lo pro’s every quarter isn’t something I’m interested in doing. I’m torn between these two styles: American Eagle 058's- -or- American Eagle 129/130's- The 058’s are cool. Clean, uniform, classic...but everyone runs them. The 129’s have more of a custom billet wheel look to them, but I don’t know how they would “age”. That is to say, how are they going to look a few years from now? Dated? I don't want it to look like a "kid's" truck. If it makes any difference, I’ll be swapping an 81-88 clip (much to Ken’s dismay )and I want to do something similar to Justpball’s first paint scheme... I’m torn and looking for a little guidance. ...And feel free to suggest some other styles I may have overlooked. |

Jason,
You got a great thing going. I think both are great choices for your project. I love your paint. Since it is not over the top (like a show truck with all kinds of graphics and flames) it will always be tasteful no matter what wheels you run on it. I think it will be a head turner. Bob

Re: I need some guidance...
I was going to say the lower set until i saw the truck itself now even tho they are common enough, id say go with the eagle 58 i just think they will compliment it more but hey its just my opinion

Can't get a tire with a low enough sidewall in a 19.5.

Re: I need some guidance...
Go with the 058's they are a classic design. And the classic's never go out of style.Im working a 85 Crewcab Dually myself, and that wheel looks good on any square body crew.

Re: I need some guidance...
campy when I read the title I thought for sure you were asking for mental help
but glad to see your going to keep going on the dually and just for the record Id go with the 58s or pick up a set of new gm wheels painted to match the truck with the trim rings and center caps

Re: I need some guidance...
That was my thought. Of those 2, the 58s. But a newer stock set would be killer.

Re: I need some guidance...
if you can get a good deal on the 22" wheels i say get those cause the tires are just as expensive as the 16" ones 265/35/22 tires can be had for about 100 bucks a piece. so why not get what you want just to save a couple bucks and regret it later. I mean if you still have to get the truck painted you have a lil while till you actually buy the wheels and something that i have seen that looks pretty cool for the time being is get the steelies that you have on your truck now paint them and throw some beauty rings on them. Ive never been a fan of putting a new set of wheels on a car/truck and not going up in size.

Re: I need some guidance...
JUST MY OPINION!
CHECK INTO THE EAGLE Series 097/098 THEY ARE 17 INCH, SO YOU STILL GET A LOW PROFILE TIRE AT A DECENT PRICE. THEY ALSO HAVE A GOOD LOOK TO THEM. I THINK THEY WOULD LOOK *****IN ON A SQUARE BODY! GOOD LUCK AND BUILD THAT HAULER!! |

Those are cool, I just don't know how I feel about them. I've been getting a lot of positive feedback on a few sites regarding the 058's. I know you can get the 058's in a 17" though. |

Re: I need some guidance...
The 058's are a timeless wheel, and you cant go wrong with that choice! I like these because not everyone has them and the big square spokes look good. I also like the smooth center caps!

Re: I need some guidance...
just about anything other than steelies or even the 058's will be dated in 5 years. What and how are you going to use this truck? If you are going to drive it in crap weather, you can't beat the ease of cleaning a steel wheel. Paint it body color with a chrome center/hub cap or any variable of that theme...timless. what's it cost to chrome the stock wheels? simulators work. Silver, trim rings and centers sort of a ralley look...sit back with a cup of coffee and just stare at the truck and envision it as yours...you'll be the happiest that way....

I'm not into painted wheels. I like a little bling. I did think about chroming the stock wheels though. I'd have to see how much it would cost. |

Re: I need some guidance...
Glad to see you're keeping it, that's a sweet truck. The 058's are classic and conservative, but those 097/098 do look sweet.

I think the Eagle 097/098 package will look good, and it's fairly new. It comes in chrome or black,,,

I agree, the 097/098 are sweet looking. And I vote to keep the round eyes and the blue & white. Oh wait, it isn't up for votes. Oh well.

Re: I need some guidance...
The 058's have a classic clean look that goes well with a square body. I say go with them.
