Slider switch on acc. pedal?

Hello everyone! I was poking around under the dash checking some wiring on our 71 3/4 ton tonight and noticed some kind of slider switch attached to the acc. pedal linkage. It has two wires running to it. One comes from the fuse box and the other goes out to the engine compartment through the firewall. I'm wondering if it was some kind of cruise control or something like that. Any ideas?
The truck was originally a big block with fac. air if that matters.

Also does anyone make a replacement throttle control that mount to the instrument cluster? I'm pretty sure all I need is the knob. Thanks!

I think the sliding switch on the accelerator bracket is actually the kick down for the trans, being a big block probably had a th400 trans. I don't understand your second question, do you mean a choke cable?

Kick down for the transmission. That makes sense, I didn't think of that. It has a 4spd. in it now. I suppose it could have been a choke at one time. O.K. theres a knob directly below the wiper switch. It has a cable like a choke cable but it attaches to the accelerator pedal linkage instead of a choke.

yeah that's supposed to be a choke cable.

Re: Slider switch on acc. pedal?

if that cable is hooked to the throttle, then it is simply a throttle knob. It was used for PTO driven items, or to hold the RPM's up when you needed to charge the truck and/or for running AUX heaters plumbed into the cooling systems. These types of items were semi-common back in the day, and aimed to the camper market.
This was alsso a factory option, but not advertised in all books or literature.
Manual chokes were gone after 68 on these trucks.

Re: Slider switch on acc. pedal?

Thanks for the info guys. Longhorn Man do you think its factory? I think the truck may have been used for a camper at one time. I thought if I could get it working it would be handy for cold mornings. I wonder if I could use parts from one of the earlier choke setups. This one is missing the knob and shoved in or is broken off flush with the gauge cluster. I'll have to do some checking.
