Polyurethane Mounts

Hi, I bought a complete cab mount kit from Energy Suspension. I've heard that it is not recommeded to use the poly mounts for the rad core support and that you should use the original rubber mounts. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

Bought it from Classic Industries. List was $65, but I had it shipped to Canada, so probably paid around $80 for it all in. Part # 34108g

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

When I asked, the consensus was that the stuff that needs to give/move should be rubber. The Cab, engine and radiator supports should all be rubber, poly for the suspension parts.

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

I agree, poly under the cab will likely give you a stiffer ride. The point of the rubber mounts is to isolate you from the road vibrations. Poly will transmist more of that vibration into your seat. Only advantage I see is that poly will last longer. I use poly only in my suspension where you want to reduce deflection and maintain proper geometry at all times.

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

While we are on the subject of cab mounts, can you replace the cab mounts with the cab still on the truck? I do not want to dismantle my truck to change cab mounts.

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

And the front cab bolts might need a tack weld ground off in order to remove them. You won't be able to easily jack it up enough to install those bushings with the bolts in place.

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

I have the LMC original style cab mounts, they seem pretty nice. I have the energy leaf spring bushings and they are stiffer than stock, that's for sure... of course I haven't driven it yet...

Re: Polyurethane Mounts

i bought a kit of rubber mounts for the whole truck it wasnt a bad price.. im 185 pounds and i installed my cab mounts by myself "already gone" if u can crawl up on your back and use your knees to help lift the cab along with one arm it was easy for my to slide in the mounts and the plates.. the cab aint that heavy
