core support patch - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Okay so I know that there is somebody who sells a patch panel for the lower passenger side where the battery rots them out. I used to see them online all of the time. Now that I need one, I can't find it. Can somebody please help me here? Maybe supply a link? I would really appreciate it.

By the way... this Site ROCKS!
I think that it is really awesome that there is a community of people with the same intrests who are really willing to help each other and Josh has put this all together with the help of all of the administrators. Okay I'm done now.

Honestly I've never seen them. I'm sure that on could be easily made with a sheer and break.... or snips and handy dolly work. This is going to sound very rude but I considered patching mine but its hard to pass up the cheap price Brothers throws on new ones every once in a while.

I got mine from Brothers and it worked out real well.

i went and found a core support out of a junked truck and paid 60 for the whole thing. had it sand blasted then i painted it and it looks brand new.. just my .02

Here's how I look at it-How many core supports are there still out there in wrecking yards that aren't rusted out in this spot? I have seen only a couple in 30 yrs. The patch panel seems like its reasonably priced. Sure, you could buy a whole repro support, but it is more expensive and you will have to pay to have it shipped. Not to mention that as far as I know, there is no one reproducing a GMC support. You have t spot weld the headlight buckets onto a GMC.

IMO, you would be money ahead to buy one over trying to make one. Yea, you could spend a day making it, but isn't your time worth something?
