Please explain to me a flip kit. After looking at my truck I assumed that it was when the leafs are still on top, just most removed and then flipped over(?). Now, in Swervin's pictures it shows that his spring brackets have been flipped to accept the leafs under the axle. Is that a true flip kit? Did the guy before me just cut and compress the front springs and simply remove rear leafs to lower the stance? Maybe thats why my ride is so rough... If I post some pictures, can someone tell me what was done to my truck so I can fix it sometime to get a better ride and get rid of the axle twist during take-off?

all a flip kit is, is where you take off the leaf springs and reinstall them underneath the axle. just like in mikes pics. you don't actualy flip the springs over.

gee... somehow that doesn't surprise me. I'm thinking that this guy just pulled a truck out of an AZ field and started slapping stuff together. Me and a buddy started pulling burned parts out from the motor and found more burned wires under the dash. I think I've decided to just take the top end of the motor apart and clean it up and get new gaskets and stuff. Repaint the intake, etc. and basically straighten up the engine compartment. I also want to get rid of all the old aftermarket A/C stuff under the dash and start working on my new gauge wood.

i think you are probably on the right track, he could have taken leaves out of the pack if they are flattened out. count how many there are. there should be 4 and one little one.

Just kidding, I here you though. Previous owner installed aftermarket A/C, never had so many problems with my truck. For the most part its almost 100% gone now. Its hot, but itleast its dependable and not a b*tch to work on, with all that sh*tty after market a/c in the way.

So THAT'S where those DT Shock Stickers were supposed to go! I didn't put them on, instead I was gonna put them on my window.

No. I thought I would be able to install the flip kit with extenders and not have to notch them like Eric said he had to. But, no go. I had to notch a place big as the bolt head and about 1/4 to 3/8" over. But, I already had me extenders installed, so I marked the plates and notched them before installing them.

Even if you can notch the plates, no way to get the bolt in the extender with the plate bolted up.

Wasn't much trouble, since I already had my extenders installed before I started. I just marked the plates and notched them. No way to get the extenders on after the flip kit. As I said, you can't get one of the bolts in with the lower plate in place.

On another note, I hope my C-notch comes today. I would like to get it done this weekend.

Eric has a problem with bottoming out. maybe thats just because he cant drive, but he has a problem with bottoming out none-the-less. he needs a notch

I say that because there is very little suspension travel. I would at least install a low profile polyurethane bumpstop to avoid damaging the frame.

It's me. Mine looks just like Eric's. I had 2.5" left. It won't be a problem anymore after today. I've already got the bed off and will be installing my C-notch today.

I don't bottom out real bad, but enough to need the notch. I don't like the sound of my axle hitting the frame. Roads around my house suck.

yeah, I only have the two leafs. (the longest and shortest.) Swervin, you posted pics of your frame (to notch it?) without the bed, thats where I saw your suspension. Thanks for the input ya'll. How hard is it to install a flipkit? I'd like to protect my innards from road bounce.
