62 on a 68 frame???

good morning, I have a quick question, would there be a lot of fabrication to put a 62 on a 68 frame ? thanks guys i'm still trying to piece together a project.

I searched the site but didn't quite find what I has looking for.

• Front frame horns are physically different & would require fabrication if a bumper is going to be used.

• Front radiator core support is @ a different height. You'd need to raise the existing mounts or make spacers.

• Front radiator core support is @ a different location. You'd need to move the existing mounts forward slightly or live w/the bushings being off-center of the mount.

• Engine compartment splash pan is different. On 6x-66's it is part of the core support/radiator mounting; on 67-72's it's not.

• Rear cab mounts are @ a different height. You'd need to raise the existing mounts or make spacers.

Thanks for the info, i just bought the frame, i should have it here shortly. i'll post up some pic's,

Unless your planning on modifying a ton with a frame, why not buy one a couple years older and just bolt everything on..? Just curious that's all.

no problem, i'm working with what I can find locally, and the price was too good to pass up, and I don't have a cab yet. I am thinking about pick up the 62 cab, clip, and bed. anyway and holding on to it

I looked for a 6x-66 frame & bought one. Turned out it was tweaked from heat or something.... I had already done some modifications on a 68 lwb frame that worked better than anticipated..... So, I took that frame, cut it down to a swb, & used it for my 64's project chassis.
