Is this a 91 front end? Cheap enough fix for a work truck?

The front end of this truck is an 91 right? looks different than the single headlight that some of the 81-87 trucks came with. Its kind of hard to tell from the picture, it also looks like the badge from a 88-91 style truck on the door too.

thats what I figured, so if it's a '91 I would assume it to be fuel injected? and probably a 350 too? (not a 454)

Re: Is this a 91 front end?

Thanks for the pic Jeff, I was told on the phone the body of this truck would be close to what you have there but of course its not anywhere near as nice.

I'm looking for a summer work/crew truck and thought I found a really good deal but not too sure now. Not sure if I should believe the owner, he said it stopped running and was told it's a fuel pump but he couldnt guarantee it. I offered him $300, he was asking $700 I guess I'll wait to see what he says. I have a 350 laying around I can stuff in it if it's toast. A couple of junk yard doors and a little bondo bed work, maaco paint job and it might make a pretty good beater truck.

Opinions?

Re: Is this a 91 front end?

Adam, looks like you just need to buy it and have a GTG at your place one weekend and we can all just dive into it and see what comes of it after a day or 2.

I'll remember you said that when I find a truck ha ha. I like the fact this one is fuel injected, no power options... less stuff to deal with

Re: Is this a 91 front end?

Adam- It could be the fuel pump. If it has an "in tank" pump they are prone to just quit. If it will turn over but won't start try rapping on the middle of the gas tank with a mallet while someone tries to start it.

If it gets fuel and fires up, plan on dropping the tank.

Edit- That looks like an Eagle lift gate. It might be a Tommy Lift but I can't see that much of it. Either way if it works well, the gate has a decent value. I had an old Tommy that lasted 20 years.

Re: Is this a 91 front end?

It has a small block in it look at the valve cover. even though it is injected dump a little gas down the throttle body and see if it will fire

He said he would take $300 but he would keep the gate, oh well. The tanks in these trucks pull out easy enough so I suppose it wouldnt be too bad replaceing a fuel pump.

Re: Is this a 91 front end?

A little starting fluid down the TB would too....That truck is clean by Ohio standards. It would be worth $300 if the motor was shot, here in the rust belt.

Re: Is this a 91 front end?

My "yes" answer was to the fuel injection question.
tbi 350 and 454 engines were available in these trucks since 1987.
