question about towing with a lifted truck?

I use my truk a lot hauling junk and hauling wood in the winter time, but I have wanted to do a 6 inch lift and 35s on my truck since I have got it 3 years ago. how do yall tow with a lifted truck do I have to buy like a reese hitch with the drop hitch on it or does anyone make a drop hitch that works off the bumper. Also post pics of your hitch if you tow with your truck and its lifted. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: question about towing with a lifted truck?

It's not just the tongue height you need to worry about but also the fact that you raised the center of gravity of your truck about 8" with the 35's and 6" lift.

It makes for some unpredictable trailer to truck interactions. I would also look into getting some sort of sway control system too.

I had an 84 K10 with the same tires and lift you want to try. Towing a trailer on a windy day was a white knuckle experience before I got a load leveling / sway control system on it.

Before I got the different hitch system on there I had the truck break loose once at 50 mph in a heavy wind and do two 360's trailer attached. Luckily it didn't flip and the only damage was two of the trailers axles ripped the lug nuts through the wheels and the wheels went flying out into the desert. Those were some wild looking skid marks. The next day I was at the local trailer shop getting it set up with the sway control system.

You might want to think twice if you haul wood. It's just going to make it more difficult to chuck the wood into the box.
