fuel injection wiring harnesses

Having put in a few late model fuel injection motors I know that trying to save money on a wiring harness will come back to bite you in the can. So I will not be trying to salvage a stock harness. My question is where are you boys getting your wiring harnesses for the 4.8 5.3 and 6.0 liter engines? I've found a place online that you can pick up a harness to controll the motor and a 4l60e for a touch over 600 dollars. Anyone found any cheaper?

Got mine on Ebay from a seller called techrods. I havn't ran it yet but it looks great and I got it quick. Try this...

Just STAY AWAY from anyone from New York named Jeff Roberts or East Coast Engines. Guy ran a scam where he took your money and harness to do a rewire and then you never hear from him again. He got me and LOTS of other people. If I didn't live so far from New York...

Re: fuel injection wiring harnesses

I reworked the harness that came with my 5.3 cost was 0$. The only cost will be the reprogramming of the pcm. I found if you take your time its not that hard to do.

Wow. He's an even bigger douchebag than I realized. I hope he got to spend quality time with his new boyfriend in jail.

That changes things a bit. The drive by wire harness is harder to find. That same company on ebay might be able to build one, I'd email and ask. If not, I know Howell makes them but they are high.

You could get a cable operated throttle body and convert but that might get the price back up. If you decide to do the DBW harness be sure to get the gas pedal out of the donor truck...you'll need it.

I did also, around $300 to rework a 06 5.3 drive by wire harness and reprogram and tune the PCM. I also had it tuned again after the cam swap and re tunes are free. if you buy a harness you still have to have someone reprogram the computer.

Re: fuel injection wiring harnesses

Here's another source, a bit pricey but they do have a DIY conversion harness, something I've not seen before.

Reworked my original Impala SS harness with a friend who happens to be a GM electrician. He also reprogrammed my ECM with his lap top

That is some great info....I am about to redo my harness in about a week, so this will come in handy.

Thanks

Re: fuel injection wiring harnesses

I've got a 4.3 in my 49. I sent my motor and trans harness along with the pcm to Larry's Electric. He did a great job! Truck runs and shifts like it's supposed to. $500 if I remember right. http://www.larryselectricsite.com
