oil change dilemma: '66 C-10 w/ 327

hey guys,

since purchasing it, i haven't changed the oil in my truck yet, so i thought this would be a good weekend to do so...however, i don't really know what grade to use though...it is a 327/Powerglide combo with powerpack heads...i have no idea of the current mileage as it's not the original engine...what grade was suggested for the factory 327? or do you have another suggestion? thanks for any help/info

I live in SC and I use 30 weight. Since I did not know the mileage I used the high mileage oil.

Any of those grades will work - just don't scrimp on the filter.

I don't know much about the Delco filters, but I would think they are good filters. I always use Wix filters and have had good luck with them. The NAPA Gold filters are made by Wix.....or at least they were.

Oil Filters....

As a youngster I always used Fram filters.

About 25 years ago when I rebuilt my first motor my machine shop / motor guru said Bosch are the best, AC-Delco & WIX are good and whatever you do don't use Fram.

I listened to him, it's what he does for a living.

So far so good......
