I adjusted the linkage on my '68 according to the FAQ article and it didn't seem to help much, it seems like the piece that moves the 2 shift levers on the column is worn out. I tried adjusting the width in between the 2 levers but that didn't really do anything either. i didn't have a chance to look at the mechanism on the hand lever inside the cab, I'm not really sure what I'd be looking for anyway. any suggestions and what could be wrong?

I'm also possibly looking into a floor shifter, what's kinda the best out there as far as price and quality? I'm not looking for anything really performance aimed just something durable that will get the job done.

Most of those shifters are sloppy & hang up between gears. They are awkward to install. I put a Hurst Indy shifter on a 4 speed a while back. It was so bad I took it off & sent it back. You can't get a good shifter unless you spend $300 to $400. Mr. Gasket, B&M, & Hurst are all the same co. now.

I'm using a Mr. Gasket shifter
#7666A like the one pictured. Works great. Stays tight. Tall enough
(18"") to clear my bench seat. Not made for speed shifting. Found it on ebay. Hardest part was bending linkage rods to clear speedo. I'd recommend one. JMHO

I've kinda changed my mind about the floor shifter I was just a little tired of messing with the column linkage, but today I had a guy come by and look at it and kinda gave me some pointers on how to fix it. so I think I'll stick with the column for now. thanks though

Same problem. Does anyone sell a parts kit to fix these? New linkages or a whole new column?

the guy had said i needed to get a shift tube, I think thats what he called it, and that either included or I also need to get the 2 shift levers on the column.
