Shackle flip kit?
Hey guys i keep hearing bout this kit. Im curious does it work with the 6" exsisting lift? Like if i order a 4" shackle flip kit, will i end up with a 10" lift total? Anyone got any pics of this sit up? Also if it does work together can i put a 3" body on top of that and have a total of 13" of lift? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Shackle flip kit?
Shackle flip kits do in fact have 4" of lift. So to answer your question if you add a BL on that too you would have about 13" of lift.

Re: Shackle flip kit?
I went with DIY4x kit on mine. Kurt is an awsome guy and was very helpful ofver the phone. here is a link to his site
http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...product_id=112 here is some pics of mine. Welds where great and fit was awsome! I went with the 4.5 inch cross tied shackles he offers a longer shackle if you want more lift before after removing the rivits is a real PITA but its worth it ORD also offers the kit on there site (offroad design) they are out of Colorado

Re: Shackle flip kit?
I see you painted your front perches. Did you also have to remove them? Did they get relocated, front or back?

Re: Shackle flip kit?
No my front perches where rotted. Those are GM replacements in the factory location. The kit does not require there removial!!

Re: Shackle flip kit?
Does the axle move in comparison to the factory location? Does the axle looke centered in the wheel well opening? Did you use the "eazy inch" or whatever it is called to adjust for that?
I thought I remember reading about the axle moving forward with a shackle flip kit but now I cannot find anything. Did the 4.5 shackle help level everything out compared to a 4" front instead of having a slight rearward squat?

Re: Shackle flip kit?
I talked with Kurt the owner of DIY4X and asked about the movement. He told me it moves the axle approximately 1/4 of an inch forward. I have not noticed it at all. I do have mud flaps mounted on the back wheel openings which might be why? My father also has not noticed the forward movement compared to other truck pictures online. With smaller tires it might have been noticeable
I am not using an ez inch or zero rate. may add one at some point to put alittle rake on it tho. My drive shaft angle is perfect. No Tcase drop was needed It sits level and has a decent shackle angle. I don't have any unloaded bed pictures tho. BEFORE FRONT LIFT http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...fblower019.jpg Done lift with 34x10.5's..... It has abot 500 pounds of scrap metal in the bed tho.......

Re: Shackle flip kit?
I know right alotta pics... But nothing recent. I am back at school so the truck just sits. Hoping to go out wheeling over thanksgiving break tho.
I just hope the pics help to show what the shackle flip is all about and how it works. I did alot of research and talking before lifting mine.

Re: Shackle flip kit?
No I don't believe the front recieved a shackle flip kit. But I could be wrong.

Re: Shackle flip kit?
There is no flip for the front. Keep in mind too that the pinion angle caused by the flip may/will necessitate a CV joint coming out of the TC for the rear, or perch rotation.
While you could 'stack' all of the lifts mentioned above, street manors would not be great. Which is fine depending on your goal.

Re: Shackle flip kit?
I have 6" of lift on my truck. 6" BDS springs up front, 4" rear Tuff Country soft rides and a 2.5" shackle flip from ORD. My axle moved forward some, but not sure how much.
When I first put the shackle flip on, I used a 4" block, and had good angle. I swapped the springs, now my shackle is bout straight. Front rides good (weight of the 454 helps) but the rear is stiff do to the angle. One of these days I'll move it forward...

Re: Shackle flip kit?
The axle will move forward slightly due to geometry.... I can draw it out if needed...

Re: Shackle flip kit?
On the front i am running 4 inch lift springs and ORD HD shackles with greasable poly bushings. These shackles are 1/2 inch longer then stock. This was done to aviod spring contact with the frame... Also the stock front shackles are real weak and often bend when heavily used offroad. That said my front shackle angle IS CRAP.
Also I am running 52 inch long rear springs. IF i swaped to 56's I would gain abetter shackle angle. The best would be chevy 63's but that is a whole other project.

Mine has neaither and my Drive line angle is perfect. That said this is on a SHORTBED. He told me the kit was desgined for K5's originally and was built so pinon angle would be fine. On a long bed you may need to shim some but i am unsure. Keep in mind tho the kit was desgined to work with FACTORY springs not the lift springs ur talking about. Those will changer your pinon angle.

With the OEM rear springs and a zero rate on my K5 the pinon pointed almost DIRECTLY (1-2* negative) at the TC, with the new Tuff Country 2" rears and no zero rates that I just installed last week it is now a straight shot to the TC yoke. This isn't great either, as the rear Spicer now does not have to 'bend' which means grease does not redistribute in the cups. Ideally there should be a 2* negative pinon angle with a CV. None the less, I'd rather deal with greasing the rear U-joint vs. putting up with the vibration and wear/tear on the output section of the NP205. Might want to google 'driveline angle' and do some research and compare/measure your setup. I'd be willing to bet money you have issues.

Re: Shackle flip kit?
I am just repeating what he said to me. I do realize he is the manufacturer and you need to take there info with a grain of salt. Maybe it is not a perfect angle but like he said and i have found it works with no vibs My angle is okay and I have no vibes. You do make a good point and I am not going to argue. I don't have any vibs but this is not my daily driver eather. I use my truck to haul junk and the only highway trips it sees are to pickup things and drive to trail runs. I have some pinon shims but they are not installed.
Did you lower your T-case??

Re: Shackle flip kit?
No I did not lower my TC. I had to rebuild and lengthen both front and rear drive shafts so I bit the bullet and put the CV on the rear at the same time. ~$750
