WHATS this spring???
I must have been sleeping on this one. Just found not one, but two pictures of this spring on clutch pedal assy. this morning. Whats it for? Ive got a five speed in my 2wd Jimmy, and I picked up a NOS clutch pedal assy and z-bar that is for a BB equipped manual trans truck... that spring assy is NOT on there. DO I need it... whats it for???

Re: WHATS this spring???
Tom, That looks to be the clutch peddal return spring. It pulls the peddel up against the rubber stop keeping it from vibrating and making noise. WES

Re: WHATS this spring???
That spring is used with the heavy duty clutch. It helps pull the pedal down as you push down on it to take off some of the pressure. If you are using a 11 in dia. type clutch you will want to remove it. If you are using a 12 in. dia. type try it. If it feels ok leave it on. If you are using the old finger type clutch you will certainly need it. If you re move it you will need to put a return spring on the linkage to bring the pedal back.

That makes sense as I indeed have a 12" clutch (and that is a pic of my truck)...I never knew that either!.....actually I never even noticed that some manual trucks didn't have that spring! RM
