Vin number details?

Anyone know where I can get more information on my truck using the vin number? I am curious in what the original paint color motor etc was when the truck was purchased. I did find a site that told me mine was a 72 v8 from Flint, but thats all I got. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this site.

It decodes your vin#. Howard

Re: Vin number details?

Sorry, the vin will only really tell you the year, chassis, motor, and assembly plant. The spid decal inside the glovebox is your only way of knowing besides a build sheet, which are very uncommon to find in these trucks after 30 years. If missing both of these items, you are going to be out of luck. Trevor

Howard I tried that site and it just keeps popping back to the 1946 box and no information.
