Re: interest in clear clearance lamps?

Longhorn man, I appreciate your legwork on this deal. Initially I was set on going with the amber lenses. However, since I'm not building a concours show truck the clear idea is starting to appeal to me. As you know ALL of my lenses and glass were destroyed by vandals prior to my acquisition of the truck. Hell they even went so far as to break the bulbs out of the lights themselves ! ( see photo ) I bought some used lenses but they are way too brittle to suit my needs. I broke one of them just trying to put it on . These would offer a much less expensive solution to my lighting needs. Thanks, Dean

P.S. ----- Check out my first load on my truck.

The depressing part is, the load is in better shape.

Re: interest in clear clearance lamps?

Better shape ? Well yes and no. I bought this Indy Ford from a kid in California. It is a rust free west coast original that has had the crap knocked out of the drivers side ! I was led to believe that the repairs were done properly but they certainly weren't. Live and learn I guess.

I am very fond of the 79 F-150 Indy 500 support trucks and I have a pair of them, including the one I sat in on the dealers showroom floor as a wide eyed 16 year old. I tried for many years to buy the truck and I watched it run around town for 20 + years slowly getting worked to death.

An owner of a trucking company gave it to his shop personnel to use as a parts truck when he was done with it as a daily driver. I found it on the side of the road with a for sale sign a few years ago and bought it. It's now in line to be built. The car hauler kind of got in the way. I'll get to it soon enough.

At any rate, thanks for the efforts ! Dean

Re: interest in clear clearance lamps?

hmmm, I don't have cab markers, but I wonder how long it will be before someone tints these clear lenses with abmer. Would be an easy thing for a bodyman to do.....

Give me your opinions.
I love your idea!!! (but I do think you look like a crack baby!)

Any chance you still have a good set of amber hockey puck clearance lights laying around?

hmmmm, I honestly have no clue what i did with them. They were either sold back then, or they are burried in my storage unit.
