How much you wanna drop it? You could cut a turn off a coil, that would be good for about 3 inches I believe. Or buy drop spring. After that you gotta buy spindles and springs. Or, you could Z the frame 3inches. That would be free if you do it yourself.

Free is cheapest.
Here's my '71 with 1 1/4 coil cut off.
dropped about 3 inches.
I cut the springs with a grinder.

yeah you can lower it for cheap why bother with replacing 40year old balljoints or tyrod ends or other old stuff while you're got it apart

If you want your tires to wear right, use drop spindles. Cutting springs just messes up your camber.

Cutting springs does not mess up camber any more than dropped springs do.

Get your front-end aligned afterward and you'll be fine.

That's true, but either cutting or buying drop springs messes up your camber unless you DO get an alignment. That's all I was saying. I might add that shortening the springs by either method reduces vertical wheel travel whereas using drop spindles does not which makes them preferable.

I cut one and a half coils off the front springs on my truck and it rides on the snubbers. You should at least check your toe in. I bought some circle track toe in plates off EBAY they work great and they are cheap! My pal bought a caster camber gauge from Speedway Motors and I set my camber to zero or slightly negative and then adjusted the caster to make the truck drive straight with no hands on the steering wheel. WORKS GREAT!

Shorter springs has nothing to do with wheel travel either. <sigh>

Really tell me how that works??..I can understand drop spindles and that statement but short springs = less travel.....

Re: whats the cheapest but good way to drop the front of my 67 c10

Shorter springs only locate the spindle further UP the arc of a-arm travel.

The spindle can still move the same amount, it's just the "starting point" of the range of motion has moved.

You will not lose a spring if only a single round is cut. I promise.
