Cab swap question.

Hey guys. I got a line on a 1965 swb frame and I was just curious if I could swap my 1960 cab onto it. I want to do a back half on my truck and convert it to short bed but I think it would be easier just building a rolling chassis off of a shortbed frame and when thats all done I can just swap my cab on it. Anyways thanks for the help.
Cheers.

Re: Cab swap question.

I've been through this myself. The rear cab mounts are in the right place, but the front cab mounts for the 60 cab will be too far outward for the 63 and later frame. It is easy to overcome if you can fab though.

Here is a thread I posted showing this exact thing with pictures.

Re: Cab swap question.

Yep it's really easy, just drill new holes as Tx Firefighter did. If you want you can also cut out the original dished plate on the floor and move it to the new location. It isn't absolutely necessary, but that would keep the head of the bolt flush with the floor.

Re: Cab swap question.

Wow, thanks for the info guys. Really appreciate it. I was hoping to get it for cheap but the guy had an offer for his spare cab and frame combo. So if it falls thru he will let me know!
