Best Truck Cover?

Can anyone recomend a first rate cover?

I need to put my 69 shortbox outside every now and again. It has yet to see the outdoors since I painted in last year, and is not ready to run yet.

My situation is more about my neighbor's Eucalyptus trees than harsh weather. The leaves stain anything they sit on for any length of time.

Manufacturers, vendors, etc...

Re: Best Truck Cover?

Check out California Car Cover. Their prices might be a little higher, but I believe the quality next to none.

Re: Best Truck Cover?

Here's my two-cents, complete with a full disclosure. The outdoor rated '56 Chevy panel truck cover I now have on my '66 short Fleet that sits outside in my driveway is from California Car Covers. I got it along with an indoor cover for my '56 Ford F-100 big-window when I did a story on CCC while I was the editor of CCT. That said, I didn't pay for the two covers, they were a gift that was given to me while I was there photographing the story.

That's been almost 3 years ago now, and the outdoor cover still keeps the rain out, and looks pretty good except for where a hit-and-run driver backed into my driveway and nailed the '66 in the rear quarter-panel. The cover now has 4-inch tear in it and I imagine at some point the cover will start to tear further. Long story getting even longer, I'm real impressed with the quality of California Car Covers' covers, and I wouldn't buy any of those other brand covers imported from India if I was still a magazine editor and could still get them for free. No, I take that back maybe I would take one those cheaper import car covers and use it to cover my lawnmower... How's that for an endorsement?

Re: Best Truck Cover?

Any car cover you buy and use for outside use is going to leave a mark. I don't care what anybody say's. I bought a Cal. cover years ago for the out side use and it left stains no matter what I did.
Get a carport cover and be a lot happier!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Best Truck Cover?

Yeah, there's no way to get around it the best way to store something is in a garage or under a covered structure. Also, my '66 with its rusted original paint is so mangy I wouldn't know if it had a new stain if someone pointed it out to me. Where I live the city is always on me. One time I got a ticket for the tires on the '66 touching the grass next to the driveway. That was $42.00, since then I put the cover on it and only the new tires are showing, so for now they leave me alone. My '68 GMC has been sitting on the back of my car trailer hooked to my '05 GMC for about a month I'm sure its probably just a matter of time before that offends someones sensitivities.

Re: Best Truck Cover?

I don't have any experience with any car covers and i know this id probaby off topic , but i don't have restrictions were i live and my neighbor has a 280zx in his driveway . It is an eye sore . I don't have a problem with it sitting there , but it is an untouched project that has been under a hardware store blue tarp for three years . I would hate to see what that thing looks like under that tarp today . Just sayin it looks bad and is probably destroying the car .

Re: Best Truck Cover?

I have found that if you have to use a car cover to get a good one. The single thickness ones are worth a thing because they don't last in the weather. I got a Wolf 4 layer from LMC Truck and I am very happy with it. I don't know where it was made and I don't care. It works and that's what counts.
