looking to pick up another project. a '69 suburban got the price down to 600.
front end damage, but was a daily driver before hand.
has a strong '75 350 motor,400 trans, 373 posi rear end,new brakes.
all orignal and complete.
it a az truck with some rust in the driver floor and rear wheel wells.
does not drive straight..has bent tie rod and atleast an alignment.
i also have a '71 long bed with a blown motor oon the side i could use for parts.
please let me know if i should do it or not.

Looks like a pretty hard hit between the rails. I think i would consider it a parts truck.

To me that looks like a good deal IF you have a front clip to swap on to it, and it doesn't need a salvage inspection. If you are buying it you should measure the frame carefully, if its bent run.

That poor ol' burb looks like it's seen better days, and now it looks like you can stick a fork in it and call it done.

For the money, you could get your PU running again.

If you have the room, you could prolly regain your purchase price on just the rear hatch and gate.

If I had the room, I'd yank as many burb parts off it as I could.
Such as:
All the side glass, minus the wind wings
The rear hatch doors
The third door
The rear side trim
The bench seats, with the hold down brackets.
The inner side panels
The fuel fill tube
All the headliner bowes, and the plastic strips that clip onto them if they are still there.
Both of the reverse light buckets if they aren't rusted out.

I'd leave it to be able to roll on it's own.
Then I'd call the recycler yard and have it picked up. (You will prolly have to pay them to pick it up).

is 600 too much ? what should i offer ?
where should i measure from ? to ?
if i get it for 600 and decide to part it(besides motor an trans) what would i be looking at ? worth the trouble ?

truck needs rockers on both sides and big dents on the bed floor and cancer on the door bottoms.

That burb has got to have frame damage. If you really want it, I'd get a line on a new frame, or make sure the current one can be straightened before I bought it.

As stated earlier, it all comes down to the frame. From the picture I would be hard pressed to believe it wasn't tweaked.

There's no way that frame's not tweaked. I'd say bent behind the front crossmember and twisted a little. You might want to check the door alignments and check for firewall damage too if you can. If it's a sight unseen purchase, offer what you think you might get from parts.

If you plan to rebuild, definitely find another frame and plan to find a lot more damage than what the pics show.

Hey worst case is that you now have a motor and tranny out of the burb to put in it and part the rest.
Doors
windows
Seats
back hatch.
I see 600 in parts easily.
If I had the room and the cash I would do it.

Id buy it then fix it.. The frame is more than likely toast but Id bet you could clip it and make it better...

ok.. think I'm gonna go for it. worst case I can part it and get my truck running at the same time. best case I get a nice tree and a come-a-long pull it back straight put my front clip on it lower it and have it as a daily. if I need a freame what am I looking for ? a sub frame, a lwb frame ?

i bet you could get a fab stub maybe from porterbuilt with rack and tubular frames. 4 link rear and have a "handlin hauler build thread"

well went and looked over the burb today.... its a no go on my part. the front part of the frame was pushed over atleast 6-8 inches and no telling if the k-member was pushed.
would have to cut the frame from the firewall foward.
the dash was bent foward from the wifes "arm" from the accident.
would need both quarter panels or atleast lower wheel arches and patch panels.
it was very complete tho.. all 3 seats all windows no rust around windows or hatch,wood floor was in ok shape. just not something i think i wanted to dive into at this point.
people said they hit a geo metro after it ran a red light,lots of damage for a metro,had glass all over the motor bay from the car
o well keep on looking.
