I6 to 350 swap on 84 c-10

I know somwone else has done this before! I am using the stock motor mounts on the crossmember from the inline 6. it almost matches up but i can only get one bolt through the motor mount and the other side is slightly higher and just running the bolt through the bracket for the mount. It there a trick? Do I need to flip one or both upside down or move them to the next set of holes? Any help would be great.

The perches will work only with specific I-6s.
First off, the motor mounts for the 292 cid 6 cylinder are staggered. That is to say, the right motor mount is about 3" further forward than the left motor mount. On the V-8 and the 230/250 I-6 they are even or straight across for each other.

You can find casting numbers at www.mortec.com or http://www.73-87.com/chevy_ids/sbcid2.htm.
VIN decoders are available in www.lmctruck.com catalogues.

Re: I6 to 350 swap on 84 c-10

The wifes buick had a chevy 250 in it we stuffed in the 383 I had in my truck. Now just from measuring the engines mount points it looked like the mounts needed to go up to the next set of holes but they did not. If its a 250to v8 it will drop right in to the correct spot on your truck. If its not going in right somthing else may be casuing the issue. On the wifes car the engine sat cocked until the trans was in mounted may be a slight casting difference between I6 and v8 mounts that doesent like to sit well on the initial drop in on these swaps but in the end your should work.
