i dunno about cutting. you still weaken the spring when you cut it. but then again i don't think they make a 5" drop spring so cutting might be the way to go on this one. its just i've seen bad things happen when springs have been cut.

Even in the old days springs were cut with a torch, while the spring was in a bucket of water. A good formula is: 1/2 coil removed = 1" of drop. What bad things have you seen with cut springs?
