Lower A-Arm Shaft

I have a 1963 C10 that I'm working on. I'm upgrading to disc brakes and beefing up the suspension. (Hope that's enough info to start with)

My question is, is it possible to reassemble everything and then come back and replace this? I order all my parts before I started. Cleaned & painted and I'm ready to reassemble. I went to attach the lower a-arm and found that the seal that LMC sent me is not correct. I called them about it, and they said it's the correct one, no way. I'll get this figured out and the correct one ordered. I would normally wait, except my truck is parked right under the attic and it contains the Christmas tree and all the trimmings.

Is it possible to do this or should I wait? The seal on the left is the old one and the one on the right is the new one. The other picture is what's left of the front end.

Thanks for your help.

I would wait,
Is there any way you can move your truck long enough to get your Xmas stuff?
Maybe use a couple floor jacks and roll it out of the way?

It's possible and I'll have to come up with something.

Do you think it's possible that they changed the design on these? I checked multiple vendors and is look like they use the ones that were sent to me. It's not the one I took off.. I'm going to go to the local Chevy dealer tomorrow and check my options.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Lower A-Arm Shaft

i got the full front end kit from LMC and had the same rubber boot!! i really did'nt have any problems with the boot's or kit except it was made in China!! i would check on looking at a Moog Suspension part to see if they are the same!! But other then that my truck ran good!!

Re: Lower A-Arm Shaft

When I replaced the bushings & ball joints on my 70 C10 the new seals looked just like the new ones you have, my old ones were completely gone so I did not really have anything to compare them to. I did not like how they fit & was considering swapping out to the newer bushing style arms later on down the road, but I ended up selling the truck.

Re: Lower A-Arm Shaft

Same here did all my stuff and got it from AutoZone and it looked the same. Just keeps the grease in and water out. I think you will be okay. In fact i don't think the stuff i took off had them anyways.
