Hard to shut door
You really have to slam the door to get it to stay shut. I have greased everything and there does not appear to be any adjustment, or is there?
Could the catch be worn? how would I tell? Any idea's Thanks for any suggestions or help |

Re: Hard to shut door
What's the deal?
did you install new weather stripping? Was the door off the cab, and is now back on? Or did it all of a sudden start acting up?

Re: Hard to shut door
It has been that way since I bought it last year. Good weatherstripping, but not new. The door might have been off during the poor restore job?

Re: Hard to shut door
First thing to do is look for marks on the strike plate that might be showing the latch has been dragging or rubbing. If it is then it needs to be shimmed in or out or just adjusted up/down/in/out until it is free. If that all looks good then go to step 2.
Step 2 is remove the strike plate on the jamb. Then see if the door closes all the way with out a lot of psi. If it does and their is not any bind once the door has been shut all the way then I would guess to say the latch is bad. Just my .02 Kevin LFD Inc. Last edited by Rokcrln; 11-29-2009 at 06:21 PM. |

Re: Hard to shut door
Plus your door hinges may be misaligned. Close your door and look at the seams all around the door. Are they all about the same width? If not you may need to realign your door.

Re: Hard to shut door
Not being there able to see it for ourselves it's hard to say just what is causing the problem. If by removing the striker and pushing the door closed and it still binds then it is probably the door alignment too tight into the cowl hinge panel causing it to pinch the weatherstrip.

Re: Hard to shut door
Well I found the door latch was rubbing on the strike plate when closing so I ground it off a bit, then shimmed the plate and that helped a bit but you still have to slam it pretty good to close it. I also took off the strike plate and closed the door and it seemed not be a problem. The latch seems to work OK like the other side
There is some also some rubbing of the door at the bottom rear corner but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Still looking....... |

Re: Hard to shut door
If the door is rubbing against the jam in any way that IS a problem.
