Re: Door speakers

No No Chuck!! Not speakers in the doors! That's considered by some to be one of the ultimate no nos. As long as it's done cleanly I don't mind and you are limited on how many places to put them in these trucks.
On the harness if you don't have power windows or locks already you could hit the salvage yards and grab a pair of rubber door to cowl tubes off some newer car or truck or do as some have and buy some polished flexible conduit to run the wires through. A rubber grommet on each end of it will keep it in place and no rubbing.

Re: Door speakers

This is what I am planning on using for my doors. large enough to run several different wires through it.

Or you could do something like this and have no wires at all to worry about. http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/keepi...c=doorcontacts

Re: Door speakers

that is some interesting ways of doing it. Hey Boog i will not be cutting holes in the doors, just the door panel below the arm rest

Only problem with that is once you open the door your speakers wont work.

this is true but think of the painless wiring as far as rubbed or pinched wiring goes

Unhappy Re: Door speakers

Hey 72, before you cut your door panels to install speakers, I thought I would warn you it does not sound good at all with the speakers in the door panels, because your body blocks most of the sound so you can't really hear them that well. I have two trucks that have them like this my 67 GMC and my 72 Chevy, the 67 has 6 1/2" 's and the 72 has 4x6"'s and I do not like the sound in either truck, it is too muffled!

cant be no worse than the ones under the seat. but i think if i mount the ones i have under the arm rest would help. if it doesnt than back to square one, and a reason to get the new panels i want

Re: Door speakers

Chuckles, Why not kick panel speakers? Are you still using the stock fuel tank behind the seat?

If you go with with kick panel speakers, buy the blank panels, and go get some good speakers to put in them.

You can also look into BOSS speakers. They make different styles of speaker pods that can be mounted just about anywhere.

Get a good dual core speaker to replace the original in the dash. You can hear it and you don't have to cut up anything.
One thing people seem to forget is road noise which nullifies any ''premium sound'' you might get when sitting in the garage. Our trucks are not designed with ''hi-fi'' sound systems in mind.

Speaking from lots of experience,
