gm code p1518-----Need help fast!
Here's is the situation.....We have a 2001 suburban 1500 with the 5.3 if that matters. We can turn the truck on and drive for a while and then it just shuts off. After waiting a while I can get it started but only with " reduced engine power" on the display screen on the dash. After waiting a while longer we can then turn it on and runs normal. I Researched the code and im getting that its the throttle actuator control module. How do I fix this or has anyone ran into this problem before. Need help pretty quick since its wifes truck and uses truck to bus our kids around. Thanks.

Check the ground wire on the drivers side back of the head. They tend to brake and will set that code. Also check the yellow wire coming out of the throttle body from the connector to 12" or so back. I've had modules, broken wires, and the throttle body set that code before... The most likely is a broken wire.

Also check your battery connections etc. Does it spin over after ti stalls out or does it just die completely?

Yes it will spin over after it dies but wont start. If it does it will be with reduced power so I shut it off and wait till it starts and revs up normally.
The ground to what head? Not sure what you are saying here.

Ground for all the sensors is on the passenger side head, back side of it next to firewall.

Re: gm code p1518-----Need help fast!
gave up and took it to the shop. After scanning and reading codes they concluded that the pcm is bad because its throwing random codes out and not communicating like it should. That being said I went and bought a pcm from a friend of mine for a real good price but not I dont know if I could just plug it in and it will work or if it has to be reprogrammed. If it has to be reprogrammed could anyone here tell me why and how that is done?

The only think you might want to do is to have the VIN set for your truck, that way if you have to take it in for anything they will match but if out of warranty that dont matter.
If the PCM is from the same type of truck you have then it will work, ie your truck is throttle cable, is the PCM from a DBW truck, if so, that is not a plug and play deal.
