Has anybody put a Duramax into a '72 Cheyenne?
I want to take out my '99 model 6.5L turbot and slide in a 6600 Duramax with the 6 speed Allison.
Has any one done this or does anyone have tips for me??? please??? I know it is almost impossible to get them as a crate motor so I am looking for a donor.

Re: Has anybody put a Duramax into a '72 Cheyenne?
Sounds like reasonable logic. It would make a super nice truck for the long hauls you do. You've got a lot more chance of finding a donor than I do.
I rented this about four years ago in BC. Had the Duramax/Allison in it. I only did about 1500k but what a great truck to drive. Cool thing was when I filled it up the trip computer told me I had over 1000k range. Makes a bloke just want to drive!

I know - I was getting just over 2000km out of my old girl.
I am thinking it will need a container from the states filled with bits and a shopping trip to all be in the budget.

Wow, 2000km over here and you'd be getting wet feet! Something very cool about having enough real estate to get out and stretch your legs. Anyway I digress. Where can you find a good used Duramax?

Buggered if I know... any ideas? Really want the LMM too of course and for less than the cost of a new one.
