I don't recall that GM ever stated exactly what type of wood they used at that time but, I always thought it was odd that I had to pay an extra $60.00 to get the E81 option, wood floor bed in my dually trucks. They used to give me a credit off the list for ordering 16"tube type tires.

so it was an option to have a wood bed floor instead of a metal one?
weird, I have never seen a square with a wood floor. I had a '73, but it had a metal floor.

Wood floors were available on all 73-80 trucks EXCEPT for the fleetside shortbeds...they were also available on all stepsides up to 87 (or whatever year the stepside stopped production).
