1 Ton lift kit
Hey fellas, I have a 1979 1 Ton Dually 4X4 that I want to lift. I would like to put at least 35" tires under it. Does anybody make a 1 Ton specific lift kit and not use the 3/4 ton kits? I have seen alot of theses lifted on here and was wondering what kit they used.
Thanks in advance. |

Re: 1 Ton lift kit
When I did the conversion on my '76 crew cab, the lift was a bunch of trial and error. I do remember trying to find a 1 ton lift without much in the way of results. The only one I found was National Spring and they were pretty expensive. Not even sure if they are around anymore. I ended up going with a superlift 4" kit that used blocks in the rear and springs in the front. The tires I ran were Denman Coyotes ( I had 34.5" Swampers and they didnt wear well) that were in fact 36" tall and rode REALLY smooth.

Re: 1 Ton lift kit
National Spring Company is still in business and they make very high quality springs suited to what you use your truck for.

Re: 1 Ton lift kit
You can use 1/2 and 3/4 ton springs up front. Get heavy duty that way you can still use it as a 1 ton. Blocks will be fine for the rear.
Steering is the only major difference. 10 bolts and Dana 44s use a raised steering arm, Dana 60s use a block that raises the steering arm. National Tire and Wheel sells the Dana 60 block kit.

Re: 1 Ton lift kit
Depending on your tire size, you might need spacers in between your rear tires so they don't rub.

Re: 1 Ton lift kit
I agree with the shackle flip in the rear. Then fab to get the overloads to still function. Any of the HD kits front spring will work fine. Planning this same setup at some point on mine.
