WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

I am looking for a nice rebuildable rochester quadrajet #7042218. I think the only application for this # would be a 1972, c-10 402/auto. Thanks Jason

Re: WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

That carb would be functionally prefect, but I am looking for the 2218 because a ½ 402\auto in 1972 would only have that #. I would have to look the # up, but I bet the 2200 came on a manual trans or a c-20 or c-30.

The funny thing is that they are the exact carb except for the #. I am a little anal, I know.

Thanks for the offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jason. You might pm Drew67. I had sold Andrew that 44k mile complete 402 out of a wrecked 72 C10 I had stored for years. That carb, well in fact the whole engine was just cherry original right down to the air pump/smog lines. The carb was mint for original coloring too. He removed the emissions system and cleaned up/painted and was installing it in his 67 GMC stepside project.
Might be worth a rebuilt carb trade. Mark

You might check with teeitup also. Randy had a 72 big block with auto that he was parting out and it might have had the original carb on it.

Re: WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

I have one that came off our 3/4 ton 72 suburban with 402. Let me see if the missus wants to keep the edelbrock or rebuild the q jet.

Re: WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I checked the number and it is identical. 2042218, I also have a 2042208. Havent talked to the wife yet. I think it may need a rebuild, but it looks pretty clean. How much are they worth?

Re: WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

We can work something out with that one. Here are some pics I took of it. It came off a '72 1 ton flat bed dually I drove from Arizona to Tx. It ran just fine at the time (about 1 year ago) The only reason it was replaced was because the engine was replaced (for a rebuild later) and the engine that was ready to go had an intake manifold from a 66 Chevelle with an impossible to come by choke. We had an edelbrock with electric choke already handy so we put it on there. This one has a rebuild sticker on it. From either 96 or 95, I can't really read it. Like I said, it ran just fine for me all the way back with no problems (well, other than the trash in the fuel tank clogging the fuel filter, but I kept cleaning/replacing the filter all the way back, and never ran it without the filter), but I can't guarantee that it doesn't need a rebuild. If you know what baseplate number that is supposed to be there I will verify that wasn't changed when it was rebuilt, just to make sure. How does 50.00 plus shipping sound. I will ship it the cheapest way possible. Let me know. Here are the pics 7042208 (sorry for the crappy cell phone pics).

Re: WTB a 7042218 carb!!!!!!!!!!

Shawn, that is a fair offer, I would really prefer a non rebuild. Sometimes Auto Zoo messes them up more than they help. I think it will fit in the medium USPS " if it fits we will ship it". if you can ship it for $50 we will take it.
Always appreciate you Paul
