91 front end conversion question

Hi all, im new to the forum and would like to say there are some REALLY nice trucks on here.

i've got an '86 gmc sierra classic ive been restoring. well i recently saw a truck on here with the 91 conversion setup on the front end and i fell in love with it. and now i want to do it to my truck. i saw a couple threads on here about it, and they all say something about a core support, is there a way to do it without changing the core support? like cutting or drilling my current one to make the lights and grill fit? whats so different about the 91 core support?

thanks in advance for any help.

youre going to see a few threads from me asking about various things. so get used to the million questions :p

No, you need the core support. It has the recesses and necessary holes for the headlight buckets and clips.

And its not as bad as i thought it was gonna b, but u do need tha core support it is pretty much 95% of tha swap very, very easy 2 do if u have a donor truck and wit a lil help u can get it done!! tha only part that i had trouble wit was tha wiring of tha headlights, blinkers, etc. but after i figured that out it was all gravy and now im supa happy wit. But if have any questions at all please dont hesitate 2 ask me or anybody else on here and welcome 2 tha board!!!

Re: 91 front end conversion question

i agree, you need the core support, i guess you could modify the one you have, because nothing is impossibly with the right tools, but, youd be better off changing them, alot less work
