Did I make a mistake?

I had a 4speed in my burb which I pullled. Today I bolted up the 200 4r. As I was seeing how the auto crossmember was going to fit, I realized that I hadn't taken the pilot bushing out. Is that going to be a problem? The converter bolted up to the flexplate but I don't know if I am putting a bunch of pressure on the nose of the converter. Anyone have the answer?

Re: Did I make a mistake?

Probably not but losen the bolts with an eye on the flex plate and see if it moves back toward the motor or there is more than a few threads of tension on the bolt

The bushing needs to come out.I can never get the 3rd bolt in the fle plate when I leave the bushing in.

Re: Did I make a mistake?

If you leave it in, over time it will prematurely take out the thrust bearing for the crankshaft. The snout of the TC fits into the same hole and will put pressure on the thrust bearing.

Re: Did I make a mistake?

Guess I'll be pulling it back out tomorrow. I'm getting a little too old to do stuff twice. I'll be kicking myself in the a$$ tomorrow.
