Who makes a good coil spring compressor?

I'm gearing up to rebuild the front suspension on my C-10.
I need a source for a reliable/safe coil spring compressor.
I've searched and most that I see look pretty chincy. Anyone know of a good one?

Re: Who makes a good coil spring compressor?

you can do it with out one its realy easy and just as safe....

jack up the truck place it on stands...remove wheels and discs...then you can place the floor jack under the lower A arm loosen up the upper and lower control arm castle nuts.. strike the spindle along side the taper of the ball joint it will pop loose then jack up slightly remove the castle nuts and lower jack slowly.till it rests on the stands then release the tension from the spring...the rest is just a bunch of tie rod ends you could use a picle fork that you can get from any parts store..they even have them to lend

I got my inside style compressor from Harbor Freight for cheap and it works fine. Use a chain, too.

Hottrucks has the plan but put a chain thru the spring and control arms and put a bolt and nut on it.If the spring jumps you can just watch it stay in place. There is a video on here somewhere on doing a spindle swap.Taped by seeten and the "Worthless" gang.

Right after I posted I realized that I could do it without it also.

You can borrow it from Advance, autozone or any other parts store with a rent a tool program.

This is what I did. My truck didn't have a motor, trans, or hood when I rebuilt my front end and I was afraid there wasn't enough weight to hold the nose down as I popped the spring free.
