If your son has trouble learning how to finesse his way through the 3sd gears try this adjustment from FAQ.

Unless you want to use this as a reason no one else can drive your truck. Do yourself a favor and get couple new shift tube control arm grommets (1.29ea from classic parts). Worked wonders for me.
