85 LWB for sale, good donor vehicle - NY
SOLD My inlaws want to get rid of their old truck. It's an 85 1/2 ton, plain jane long bed with manual steering, manual tranny (SM465) and a 5.0L 4bbl with 60K original miles on it, tires are in great shape. Starts right up and runs nice but has cancer. Bad news is that it lived its life in upstate NY and hasn't been driven much in the past 4-5 years.
I moved this to the parts board because it will more than likely be en engine/tranny donor for someone... truck is located in Watertown, NY and they want it gone! SOLD

Re: looks like i'm joining the square-body club again...
Looks like the rust has got it pretty good, but since they have already helped you out with one car, and they are the inlaws then I wouldn't think twice about paying them a little more for it.
Oh and welcome back to the club! Last edited by JohnC; 06-30-2009 at 06:43 PM. |

Looks like the rear wheel wells are in decent shape. Any idea as to what size rubber it runs on?
Thanks Benjamin.

Re: looks like i'm joining the square-body club again...
aah, gothca...
what tranny did these come with? can't you find a cheap NV3500 to install in a 2WD truck? That would be a 5 speed with overdrive..

Re: looks like i'm joining the square-body club again...
truck is going to be on watertown CL soon. I checked it out this weekend and am not going to take it. The motor purrs like a kitten and with only 65K miles it should. Good rubber on the tires 235-65-15 I think and an SM 465 tranny with granny gear. The underside is NASTY... very flaky and rusted supports. passenger side A-pillar is gone so i'm writing the cab as a total loss. This would make some good parts though: engine, tranny, hyd clutch, tires, tailgate, glass, grille etc..
Let me know if Interested...

Holy cow! We couldn't make a truck rust like that out here if we tried to. I feel for you all out that way.

Re: 85 LWB for sale, good donor vehicle - NY
since they are up on the map so high I could have them give it a push down I-81, then I could help it along when it comes by me and maybe it would make it to NC!

Re: 85 LWB for sale, good donor vehicle - NY
no parts, need the whole thing gone. Engine/tranny combo are worth the $500, then you have a few hundred in tires and lots of free parts...
