My 84 was originally a 3/4 truck. The previous owner converted it to 1/2 ton before I bought it. Now I am about to tear back into it but since there is 5 people in a 4 hour drive of me doing a crew cab long bed with 1/2 ton suspension, I am going in a different direction and want to go back to a 3/4 ton. I was wondering if I could just change the rear end, and up front swap the rotors or do I need to swap spindles too?

Everything I've read on these 3/4 to 1/2-ton conversions indicate the need to swap spindles. I would say you'll need some 3/4 ton spec'd spindles (which are available in dropped form if desired).

To complete the conversion you will need to change the rear leaf springs if you want the carring capacity.

I "think" the springs are wider, so you might need the correct hangers too. Someone verify this please.

well, i have a 3/4 ton, and i have a friend that has a 1/2 ton, and all i can tell you is that the suspension is Very stiff, i went over a speed bump going 20mph, and i went air bourn in my cab,

my truck is bagged so leafs are not a worry of mine. Sry, I forgot to put that in my post. I am wanting to do a dually conversion on my truck so I need to get back to 8 lug pattern. I know I need to get a C&C rear end but I was wondering what about the front if its just a rotor and spindle swap or do I have to swap the motor crossmember out too.
