Re: 1985 k20 rear brake question

its called a load bias valve. it reduces brake preasure when there is no load in the bed to keep you from skidding the tires.

either tie it up or take it out.

Is there a chance that it could malfunction during the winter? I keep skidding my rears all around town until the brakes are pumped a few times.

Re: 1985 k20 rear brake question

if it fails it is only going to give you 100% of the avialable braking power. if you keep sliding around you need to look at your pads, get new tires or quite driving to fast for conditions.

:guilty of all three:

yup, get it out of there, 90% of the trucks on the road dont have them at all. i am surprized to see that yours is a 3/4t, i have only seen them on 1t chevys.
