12 bolt posi rebuild
Is it possible and financially feasible to rebuild a 12 bolt that is currently open to a posi or locked rear end?
Just trying to plan how to spend money I don't have just yet

I planned to do this and found out it will take about $400 doing it yourself or $800 to have it done. So I am thinking of waiting until later for mine.

when it comes to axles dont go cheap. You dont want to rebuild it again because of inferior junk. You looking at the difference between a couple hundred bucks. A good Eaton pro Posi will run you around 400. new bearings and seals... around 60-80 bucks, new Gear set... 150-200. if you have never set up a GM axle i would not experiment with new stuff. Especially if you dont have the right tools. Pay someone a hundred bucks or so to come over and show you how.
