They seem like our best option because they restore what we already know fits perfectly.

It would cost a small fortune. I had them quote me once on a tiny 67 camaro dash and it was over $400 (not including shipping) if I remember correctly so I imagine the bigger truck dash would be even more.

I have also heard that the dashes are somewhat fatter afterwards too.

Sure they are. That's exactly what I plan on doing with my 86 NOS grey pad. I' gonna paint it blue.

Re: Best place to buy a Dashpad

I know that I bought a pad a couple of years ago and it said it was not paintable. When I got it there was an oily film on it. I tried everything to get it off. Laquer thinner, paint thinner and acetone. Looked good right after I dyed it but it started peeling. I think there was some kind of oil in the vinyl that continued to seep out. I tried it a couple of more times after I cleaned it and it never worked.

Re: Best place to buy a Dashpad

Here is some new GM dash pads $495.00 yikes. Look on page 22 of 67 in this catalog. It takes a little while for the catalog to load.

The other dash pads they sell are junk. This is where I bought mine.

Was this a new (NOS) G.M. pad or was it a new relacement pad?

Re: Best place to buy a Dashpad

i filled the cracks in mine, and smoothed them out, then had it professionally recovered. i couldnt be happier with the results! its 3 years old, and still looks brand new. best part, it will never crack again with the protection of the material. it cost me around $150 in labour and material.

on top, you get a very cool looking stitch pattern highlighting the corners and lines of the dash, very nice IMO.

Re: Best place to buy a Dashpad

It was only a replacement. I bought it on Ebay and the description said that it was not paintable.

Re: Best place to buy a Dashpad

I got one of the polyurethane ones from Dashes Direct. It fits and clips in place just fine, and the right side trim fits well. I did have to do a little trimming, make holes for the dash bezel and just spend a little time getting it to fit well. It's not the best in the world but it does look good for a daily driver.

yes I do:

The only catch is you either can't have your dash speaker, or it will be a little muffled. ....I say perfect reason to upgrade to a better stereo.

Thanks Kyle,

That looks awesome. Mine is in terrible shape. I am thinking of using foam to restore my dash and then cover it in vinyl. There is a how to for foam here:

Foam-Not-Fiberglass
