I agree with you totally...some blocks can, some can't. An owner also has to know what shape their block is in to know if it can handle it. And unless you know your machine shop guy pretty good, most will just do the bore just as you asked and send the block right on out the door. Now todays aftermarket blocks can handle a .60 bore with no problem because they are built with thicker cylinder walls.

Thank you guys for your advice. My block is a newer one piece rear main seal block. My machinist assures me that it will be no problem and I will address that again when i drop the block off at the machine shop. So no one has anymore experience or information about installing a T-56 into a C-10?

I'm no expert, but that's pretty much as far as the installation of the T56 goes. It's a relative easy swap in todays times. Now 5-10 years ago, there was no info and it was all a custom job. i don't have a T56, but I do have a TKO 500, and had to fab up a hydraulic clutch and the shifter is pretty far back on the TKO, but not as far back as the T56. Here's a link to a thread with some pics in it.

Isn't there a place that you can move the shifter to on the t-56? I think I read something about it before but now I can't seem to find anything. But on the transmission there is a plate about a foot up from the stock location of the shifter plate, I was wondering if that was an optional shifter location.

Smoky, the Tremec TKO 500's & 600's had 3 different shifter locations to mount the shifter base/plate. The older T56's don't. Now I think you can turn the shifter plate around on the older T56 to get a few inches difference which won't really help you much. You may need to verify what I said about inverting the shifter as I'm not to sure, but I think you can. Now the "new" T56 Magnums have another shifter mounting location. But I don't think you have or will be getting the new T56 will you? If so, then shifter position won't be a problem

I wish I could afford the T56 Magnum, no sir the transmission that I am getting came out of a 96 Camaro Z28. Do you know how much farther back the shifter is on the 6 speed compared to your TKO?

Would I have to remove my bench seat? Or is there a shifter that would fit around it? Or is there another style seat I can use that is still considered a bench with a little more clearence?

i flipped my shifter around on the Tremec and ordered a Hurst stick for a bench seat car. I'm pretty sure that the shifter is even farther back on a T56, but don't quote me on that. Even with mine the way it is, it's pretty close to the seat in 2, 4, and R. I'm sure any vendor that sells T56's or TKO's will be able to tell you how far back or what the difference is.

not sure about another bench style seat that would clear a T56. Jeg's sells a bunch of different Hurst sticks, that's where I got mine. I looked up the dimensions on Hurst's website and did some measuring from my floorpan to the seat and just found something that was close enough.

I'm no transmission guru, but that looks tough enough. I think a job like that isn't for the average DIY'er. I would have a transmission guy do that and yet still hopefully they can do it right. LOL!

This is a good thread to reference. As I thought, but was unsure, you can invert the shifter on the T56. You may want to print this thread out for directions.

I got mine from Jegs for $2795. Forgot how much freight was, but I think it was around $120 shipping. No tax because of out of state.
