Help fixing a bead leak

I just put new tires on a set of used aluminum rims. Three of the tires are fine, but one leaks around the bead. It loses about 5 psi a day.

Is there a way to seal this up? Can you break the tire down and put permatex or some kind of sealer on the bead?

I don't think I can (or want) to put a tube in it, because of the valvestem.

I should mention it's on a daily driver (not a drag car).

Any suggestions?

K

Re: Help fixing a bead leak

I would take the tire back off the rim and clean the rim real good with sandpaper or emry cloth.

Re: Help fixing a bead leak

Any tire supply shop will have bead sealer that works great to stop leaks.

Re: Help fixing a bead leak

Agree with all above. They should have some clear/yellow colored gel (can't remember what it's called) to put on the bead to help seal it after the rim is completely cleaned.

Re: Help fixing a bead leak

We have a new tire shop here in Indiana Discount Tire that would probably fix it for free. if you do not have a place like this any tire place should fix it for under $10
