cab mounting bolt broke

I have an 81 chevy shortwide. I was taking the mounting bolts out to replace and had both of the bolts break off. Anybody have an easy way to get them out. The cab is off and on its back right now. So I have good access to the bottom. Just wondered if anyone has had this problem and what would be the best way to get them out. Thanks

Re: cab mounting bolt broke

you can drill a hole through the floor of the cab and then grab the nut and try to spin it out . If its the front mount those can be replaced easy enough, they are sold aftermarket

If you have a torch, you can heat the nuts up. you just have to heat the nuts really quick, before the bolt heats up and it'll likely screw out by hand (or by pliers since it'll be hot)

Yep it was the front 2 bolts that broke off. I guess Ill try to drill holes threw the floorboard and get them out. If anyone has another idea, post it soon!! I need to get the cab back on the frame. thanks

Hey Old Rusty,

Where are they available from, Neither one of mine will come out, both rusted pretty good. Even tried heat, I got them to move a little but that was it. So I was gonna cut them with a Saw-Zall and replace them when the cab was off.

Thanks,

Sarge
